Graduation Pathways
Graduation pathways are planning guides, not requirements, designed to help students and families explore academic and career interests while remaining on track for high school graduation. Pathways are flexible and customizable, students may change pathways as interests evolve; however, some graduation pathways require specific prerequisite courses. Because of these prerequisites, students who change pathways later in high school may not be able to fully complete all components of a new pathway. For this reason, students are strongly encouraged to use their junior high years to explore multiple areas of interest to help inform pathway decisions when entering high school.
All students must still complete required graduation courses, and course rigor (Advanced Placement, dual credit, or on-level) is determined by student readiness and preference, not by pathway selection. Students may also take elective courses outside of their chosen pathway. Graduation pathways allow students to intentionally plan toward earning industry-recognized credentials (IRC), postsecondary certificates, or even an associate degree, all while working toward a high school diploma.
