GIST 130 provides students with an understanding of the methods and theories of spatial analysis, enabling them to apply GIS knowledge and skills to real-world situations, everyday problem solving, and their chosen career paths. The course emphasizes analytical thinking and the use of spatial data to interpret patterns, relationships, and trends across a variety of contexts.

Students build on prior GIS coursework while applying advanced analytical tools and techniques within ArcGIS Pro. Coursework supports the development of technical proficiency and prepares students to apply this course toward earning an ArcGIS Pro Foundational Certificate.

This course strengthens students’ ability to use GIS as a decision-making and analytical tool in professional and applied settings.

Prerequisites for this course include the successful completion of GIST-120.

Corequisites for this course include enrollment in ENGL-203.

Students choosing to take the course for college credit must apply to Crowder College and enroll in the course through both Crowder College and the high school. Students are financially responsible for any course fees incurred for taking the course for college credit.
