This course provides students with an overview of the fundamental skills and knowledge required for careers in building maintenance and facilities management. Students are introduced to the systems, tools, and practices used to maintain safe, functional, and efficient residential, commercial, and institutional buildings.

Course content includes basic maintenance skills related to plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC awareness, carpentry, painting, preventative maintenance, and safety procedures. Students learn how to identify common building issues, perform routine maintenance tasks, and understand proper work order processes and documentation.

Emphasis is placed on workplace safety, problem solving, professionalism, and the use of tools and equipment commonly found in maintenance and facilities operations. This course prepares students for entry-level maintenance roles and provides a strong foundation for advanced coursework or training in skilled trades and facilities management fields.
