This course provides an introduction to the teaching profession and includes a minimum of thirty (30) hours of supervised field experience in accredited P–12 classroom settings. Field experiences provide students with opportunities to observe, assist, and contribute to teaching and learning in real school environments. Through observation, guided participation, and reflective practice, preservice teachers connect firsthand classroom experiences with an emerging professional knowledge base. The course emphasizes understanding diverse educational settings, instructional practices, and the roles and responsibilities of teachers. Additionally, students will examine requirements for teacher preparation and certification, supporting informed decision-making about whether a career in teaching is an appropriate professional goal.
Students choosing to take the course for college credit must apply to Crowder College and enroll in the course through both Crowder College and the high school. Students are financially responsible for any course fees incurred for taking the course for college credit.
